Hi, I have a software installation on the web (see the install at ijutools.sourceforge.net), and in the future I'll be distributing some technical papers and so on as part of the install.
I'd like to able to search these technical papers on the user's machine. This is an ordinary install via InstallShield Express--it just copies some .PDF files to certain locations. In the future, I'd like to also provide a search engine which rides along as part of the install, based on ht://Dig. The ht://Dig databases would be part of the install too--they would not be built on the target machine. My idea would be that there are one of two scenarios: a)The user opens an HTML document on his machine, and *somehow* when he does a search a windows version of htsearch is invoked that lets him search the databases corresponding to documents on his machine. b)The user fires up a server that serves a page and the server runs htsearch. Any ideas here? I don't mind creating a "custom" server that does the searches and so on. But is there a better way? Thanks, Dave. ----------------------------------------------- David T.
