Ok I have a quick
question that hopefully someone can answer.
Scenerio:
We are indexing
pages that are classified by region. (i.e. NE, SE, SW, etc.) These
pages are divided onto different servers by their classification. I'm
currently using htdig to do the indexing. I have different databases for
each region which allows the client to search by region. However, I also
need the ability to search all the databases in one search also.
I know how to use
htdig to merge the databases but before I do that I would like to know if the
merging process get's rid of the initial database?
for instance if my
databases are se.db, ne.db, etc. and my main database where I want all of them
is named main.db. when I merge the se.db into the main.db will a copy of
the se.db still be there for the regional search to work or will i have to
reindex?
