Replacing what version? Are you using this in a production environment, or are you doing this for test purposes? In the 3.2 series, the database format is still somewhat in a state of flux as we're trying to keep in sync with versions of the mifluz word database library (an offshoot of ht://Dig development) and the underlying Berkeley DB package. Often it doesn't require much to update, but this is why there are release notes and an upgrade guide to the 3.2 betas. Of course if you're upgrading from 3.1 to 3.2, the databases aren't compatible as there's simply more information in the 3.2 databases.
