Dear Laurel - I don't know what your access is with your earthlink account or if you installed htdig yourself - I can only tell you of my own experience. First things first you need telnet or ssh access to your account. Then you need to find the directory where htdig is installed (~/usr/local/htdig-3.whateverversion number) - in that directory you should find the following directories: bin/ cgi-bin/ common/ db/ htdocs/
in the htdocs directory look for the file 'search.html' - edit this file to the look and feel you want. in the common directory you will find the files header.html, footer.html, wrapper.html and nomatch.html - again - edit these files to your look and feel. Remember to set your links to the document root path (for images etc) - check out http://gympart1.tempdomainname.com/ - to incorporate htdig from a search field (view source) or you can see the page with http://gympart1.tempdomainname.com/htdig/search.html -- the key is to finding the install folder on your server.
