Please see the FAQ. <http://www.htdig.org/FAQ.html#q1.5> I haven't seen
many messages to the list truly fall through the cracks, but it does
sometimes take a few days before someone gets to a question. (Esp. if the
question requires a more involved response.)

Do you mean "common_dir: /var/www..." ? The missing initial slash looks a
bit suspicious.

There's a difference between files on your drive and URLs on the
server. If you've set up your webserver so that it's Document Root is
/var/www/htdocs/new/Website/ then a file "foo.html" in
/var/www/htdocs/new/Website/foo.html has a URL http://server.com/foo.html

On the other hand, if the webserver's Document Root is /var/www/htdocs,
then you could also have an entire website at
http://server.com/new/Website/ and beyond. None of this has anything to do
with ht://Dig in the least.

To be completely honest, nothing in the ht://Dig code (save the installer
script) cares where the files end up on your drive. In all cases, you want
to have attributes point to the files with proper paths, but the *code*
just fetches the file.

This would be a configuration issue. Make sure that the path of the
wrapper evaluates to your actual file. Since you've made it depend on
${common_dir} I suspect this is your problem.
