So, my question is : is it possible to > print the subject and the author of the mail (I use htdig with a mailing > list archive) ?
That depends on how much control you have over how the mailing list archive is fed into htdig. If there are scripts that generate HTML pages of the archived messages, you may be able to customize the scripts to put the subject of each message withing <title> and </title> tags, so the subject would appear as the title line for a match in the search results. You could also put the author in there, or find another way of making the author name stand out. You can also put tags in the messages to suppress indexing of portions of the message or its headers.
