Hello,

i hope there is nobody at this list who wants to kill me because the
problem i have is often discussed for shure. But i found nothing at the
archive that fits my problem.

We have a i386 Suse Linux 7.3 running as our Webserver. The Webserver
itself is a apache. Then we have also the databse system MySql.

Ive downloaded the htdig package (tar) and uncompressed it at the server.
As the documentation told me i started ./configure and that brought up
several error messages:

nueslx04:/tmp/SearchEngine/htdig-3.1.6 # ./configure
loading cache ./config.cache
checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... no
checking for working aclocal... missing
checking for working autoconf... missing
checking for working automake... missing
checking for working autoheader... missing
checking for working makeinfo... missing
configuring ht://Dig version 3.1.6
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH

So i think my understanding is well enought to recognize that there are
some packages missing at our system. But i found nothing like "cc" or "gcc"
at the Suse RPM-Update Site.

What packages do i need to install before i can make a running htDig
installation ??

Thanks

Jens Dinsthler
