Which version of ht://Dig are you running? If you're running anything less than 3.1.6, I suggest you upgrade to that, then try rerunning htmerge. You should be able to safely rerun htmerge as often as you like. It will regenerate the Db.words.db and Db.docs.index files from the Db.wordlist and Db.docdb files. (I assume the "." in docdb above is a typo.) The question is, why did it not run successfully at first? Some bugs in earlier versions of htmerge affected its ability to properly generate the Db.words.db file, particularly when indexing accented/umlauted words.
