If the Linux OS and RPM package you're talking about are Red Hat 7.x and the htdig-3.2.0-2.011302.i386.rpm package (or some other release of this RPM), then it sounds like you're missing the htdig-web package that goes with it. Earlier, you mentioned that you copied htsearch to /var/www/cgi-bin. If instead of doing that, you installed the htdig-web-3.2.0-2.011302.i386.rpm package, you'd not only get the copy of the htsearch binary where you want it, but also a very critical symbolic link that the default configuration needs for its "common" directory where the template files are. Alternatively, you could define common_dir at /usr/share/htdig in your htdig.conf, to make the symbolic link unecessary, but you'd probably then need to copy some graphic files somewhere into your DocumentRoot so they'd be accessible from the web browser. Otherwise, the templates may show up but the graphics probably wouldn't. It would be better to just install the right packages. If you're not talking about Red Hat 7 and their RPMs, then please be specific about which Linux distribution and RPM you're using. These sorts of details are quite critical if we're to provide meaninful advice. -- Gilles R.
