The version of doc2html available for download should work with htdig 3.1.4 and all subsequent versions. I am using it with version 3.1.6, and I have heard of no version-dependant problems.
If you are finding that it works with 3.1.5 but not 3.1.6 then I suggest that you first double check your configuration files.
