First: please keep the list in the Cc; I am not the only person who can
address your questions;(the understatement of the year;)

Second: Change directory to your htdig source and run the following
commands:

 patch -p0 < /path/to/Makefile.0
 patch -p1 < /path/to/ssl.9

The /path/to/ is where you actually saved those patches on your system.
For more information do:

 man patch
