I think you misunderstand what the ./configure message indicates. The
Berkeley DB currently does not support thread mutexes on PowerPC
platforms. It should not cause any problems with compilation--it's just a
feature that's disabled.

If you are having problems compiling ht://Dig, you should report the error
message(s) and as much information as possible about the version of
ht://Dig (including snapshot number, if applicable), OS, compiler, etc.
