Red Hat 8.0 ships with gcc 3.2, which from what I've heard about it is absolutely fanatical about enforcing the latest C standard (ditto for g++ 3.2 and the latest C++ standard). I expect a lot of software will need patching/updating to build it with gcc 3.2. -- Gilles R.
