I have niggling problemettes with entity translation. ht://Dig version 3.1.5 and later translate “ into &ldquo; (and ‘ and so on) when displaying page excerpts. This is merely untidy. But reading Attrs.html has got me in a deeply tidy mood. And lost in treble-negatives - though I *think* none of my settings are causing this. Contrariwise, it converts ∥ to ¶ - which IE5 renders but Opera 5.11 and Mozilla 0.9x show as unrecognisable. That was me experimenting with making excerpts of contents pages with subheadings more readable, using invisible GIFs to pass a delimiter symbol to ht://Dig via their ALTs. For a compact demo go to www.londonfreelance.org and search for "pogo"! Guessing wildly, I tried including <META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> in the pages - which I should have done long ago - but no joy. I'm lost now.
