I just did a very simple test.I created a test index directory, and moved all the old databases to another area, and ran rundig. The databases are searchable for the one page I threw in. the only difference is that I ran rundig as root instead of my username. Please tell me that this might not be the problem with the huge databases I created last week..or if it is, if there is some other way around this problem. The permissions for all databases were set to a+r.
The user the dig was run as shouldn't make any difference, assuming the final permissions of the databases and all directories leading to the databases are readable by the user that the search is running as.
Are you receiving an error message when you do a search, or a page saying no matches were found? Have you tried running htsearch from the command line? You mentioned a database total of 2.3 GB. Is that the sum of all the database files, or do you have a single file over 2 GB? If the latter, did you compile for large file support and do so on a system supporting large files?
