Anyone know of a pdf to text converter that doesn't require that X be installed?
I am currently using xpdf on a system without X Window (http://www.foolabs.com/xpdf/). You need only the text based tools, especially pdftotext.
Here is what the README file for xpdf says:
"Xpdf runs under the X Window System on UNIX, VMS, and OS/2. The non-X components (pdftops, pdftotext, etc.) also run on Win32 systems and should run on pretty much any system with a decent C++ compiler."
