Thanks Krzysztof! With your information, I've narrowed the bug down. It should go away if you set "wordlist_cache_dirty_level: 10000" on your htdig.conf file in the latest snapshot. Please let me know how that goes.
I think that my ..._dirty_level kludge is just tickling an existing bug (tickling with sandpaper, perhaps!). The kludge is no longer necessary in the last two snapshots.
