After getting the htdig install to work, I discovered that my predecessor had actually created a shell script to do the search like the one found in FAQ 5.25. This script was executed daily from cron followed by the rundig command.
The paths were different from the previous (RedHat 8) install so I adjusted them accordingly and attempted to run the script which did not work. I then tried to go back to state where it worked (with the url) and htdig did not work again. I uninstalled and reinstalled the rpms (htdig3.1.6 for RedHat 9) and it still does not work.
When I try to run the rundig on the file resulting from the script, it appears to start out normally but then it is like it is searching every site on the internet. I finally have to killall rundig to get it to even stop. The htdig.conf file is exactly the same as the install from rpms except for (1)the file name in the start_url setting and (2) that I comment out the lines that the rpm added to the end.
Once again, any help here would be greatly apprecitated.
