Did you complete the process of generating new databases after running 
the above command? The -a would have resulted in an alternate work file 
that is not used until it is renamed appropriately. Also, depending on 
the version you are using, either htmerge or htpurge needs to be run. 
If you don't want to mess wit the individual commands, you can use the 
rundig script included with the distribution.
