You're correct - for whatever reason, all of my install notes for when I previously installed htdig are nowhere to be found. At one point I did use Mandrake's RPMs [which for Mandrake 8.2, I *think* they are 3.2beta something], but I quickly removed them when I found that they were in fact a beta or a cvs snapshot [i have no problems using betas or snapshots, but not for a public/production server]. } The files in question are not generated by 3.1.x } versions of ht://Dig. To the best of my knowledge, these files are only } generated by the 3.2 (beta) versions. Although you may have previously } compiled a version of 3.1.5, it looks like your system has actually } been using a 3.2. Perhaps an ht://Dig RPM was installed from your } distro? I am not sure what Mandrake is doing these days, but I know } that Red Hat has for some unknown reason been distributing 3.2 betas } for quite some time now. Well, I must have had an unusual combination of binaries installed, or I'm just completely brain dead and hand compiled 3.2bX after removing the Mandrake RPMs. I wish I still had my notes [that's why i type them up, so i don't have to remember this stuff! :) ]. Those 2 files were generated nightly, so one of the ht* binaries I had on the old system must have been a 3.2b. Thank you *very* much for clarifying that. } Unless you really need some feature from the beta, you are probably } best off sticking with 3.1.6 and adjusting your scripts accordingly. Yeah, that is why I hand compiled 3.1.6 last night, as Mandrake 9.1 comes with 3.2beta something. FWIW, I was able to use FAQ 3.8 [IIRC] and installed 3.1.6 just fine using Mandrake's gcc version 3.2.2. Thanks for letting me know about the 2 db files - I feel much better about the htdig install now. :) /vjl/ -- Vince LaMonica UC Irvine, School of Social Ecology W3 Developer <*> 116 Social Ecology I, Irvine, CA 92697 [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.seweb.uci.edu/techsupport A)bort, R)etry, I)nfluence with large hammer. ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ ht://Dig general mailing list: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ht://Dig FAQ: http://htdig.sourceforge.net/FAQ.html List information (subscribe/unsubscribe, etc.) https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/htdig-general
