I assume you mean your web server isn't following symbolic links, as
htdig doesn't (and should never need to) look at symbolic links directly
itself. In Apache, you enable symbolic links using the following directive,
normally in your httpd.conf, but it may work in a .htaccess file too:
Options FollowSymLinks
In the httpd.conf file, this should be done within the <Directory ...>
block for the directory that is defined as your DocumentRoot.
