The most likely thing that up2date would have touched would be the version of the xpdf package that was installed. This package includes pdftotext, which is used by doc2html.pl or conv_doc.pl to index PDF files. But why this would cause indexing to stop working is a bit of a mystery. All I can recommend is you try running doc2html.pl or conv_doc.pl from the command line on a few of the problem PDF files to see what they output. E.g.: doc2html.pl /full/path/to/pdf/file.pdf application/pdf http://url/to/file.pdf Also try pdftotext directly on these files (see "man pdftotext" for usage). -- Gilles R.
