OS is FreeBSD 4.9-RELEASE-p4 All the old databases were deleted before run.
Double check to ensure that the copy of htsearch you are using was also upgraded when you went from 3.1.6 to 3.2.0b6. It sounds like you are trying to search 3.2.x generated databases with a 3.1.x htsearch.
