I can't replicate your issue in Apache 2.0.51. You might consider a test installation to see if it solves your problem. Be sure to use a different directory, different logfile names, and a different port number for the test installation.

The reason for this is that in several places in my site, users have managed to put a final dot at the end of the domain portion of the URL, ie: my.valid.domain./some/file.name The site is running on Apache 1.3 which is quite happy to accept this as a valid domain, (or possibly mapping to the default domain?) so returns pages which get indexed by htdig.
