I'm my environment at home (FreeSD running htdig-3.2.0.b6) I can get the search_results_contenttype directive to omit the Content-type header. However, at work (Redhat running htdig-3.2.0-2.011302) I can only get "Content-type: text/html" which I cannot use for this particular application.
I cannot even change the Content-type to something othr than text/html.
I suspect the version I'm running. Has anyone see a more recent rpm for htdig 3.2.0?
Your suspicion is most likely correct. The search_results_contenttype attribute wasn't added to the 3.2 branch until 3.2.0b5. Based on the name of the Red Hat package, you are using something much older. If I recall correctly, Red Hat was actually using a development snapshot as their base for a long time.
There is a slightly newer RPM in the binaries section of the ht://Dig site (http://www.htdig.org/files/binaries/). However it is based on a 3.2.0b4 snapshot. There is a README that provides a little more info on the package. Since it is based on b4, it probably wouldn't help with the content type issue anyway, but I couldn't say for certain.
Failing that, any suggestions?
Short of changes at the source code level, I don't know how you would get around this issue.
