Judging by the "htdig: Unable to open/create document database", my first guess would be to check the permissions of /usr/home/ips/html/htdig/db/ to make sure the user you're running htdig as has write permissions on that directory.

I have given this directory the widest permission set and no go.

Is there already a file, /usr/home/ips/html/htdig/db/db.docdb, there with more restrictive permissions?
