Well I wondered if I should add an autoconf check for regex.h. I guess I
shouldn't. Sigh.

Wow. For once, I'm ahead of things. Check the latest snapshot. Not only
should it have the endings databases as DB_HASH, but it *should* use the
regex.h in htlib, which is the version from glibc 2.1. Theoretically, it
should use the code in regex.c before using the system version.
