OK, but then why was make running automake on my system? Was it
because the mod. times got messed up after I applied Loic's patch?
If so, this could also pose a problem when, for instance, someone grabs
the CVS source tree, or gets a whole bunch of CVS updates all at once.
I've noticed that CVS doesn't maintain the modification times of the
files as they are in the repository - when you get a file from CVS the
mod. time is the time it's updated on your system, not the time it was
committed to the repository or its mod. time before it was committed.
It seems the Makefile should be built with this in mind, and not force
automakes and autoconfs just because the mod. times in the source got
a bit messed up.
