Hi,
Yesterday I committed the htpurge utility and I now have the htdump
utility ready, followed shortly by htstat and htload. I have a few
issues that I'd like to address though.
1) htmerge: I'd like to repurpose htmerge to do exactly that--just
merge databases. I'd move it to the httools directory since it would
become just one file. The "cleanup" goes to the htpurge utility,
which I think makes a bit more sense name-wise. However, this will
break a *lot* of scripts. Thoughts?
2) htdb naming conflicts: Right now the htdb directory produces
htstat, htdump, htload, etc. for working with the compressed database
directly. I'd like to rename these htdb_stat, etc. to match the
original versions. Does this sound OK?
3) Are there other potential httools that are needed? While I'm
making them, I might as well keep at it. As it stands, I see six:
htpurge, htdump, htload, htstat, htmerge, and htnotify. Any holes?
Also, if anyone has any feedback on how to supply URLs to htpurge,
I'd appreciate it. Currently, I'm thinking it should have a -u switch
to specify one or more URLs to delete. I also think that a - switch
to read the list of URLs from STDIN makes sense. Any other useful
input mechanisms?
-Geoff
