When running "make check" the apache web server was failing.
I noticed in the configuration file for the server, that
only the USER directive was supplied. When I manually
edited the config file by adding GROUP xxx
the test server started.
We may have a particularly peculular setup as the account
we were compiling under was a YP account and had no group
identifier in the passwd file. The server was trying to run
with an illegal gid. By setting GROUP nobody and USER nobody
it worked.
