Geoff,
I did get the code from a posting. It was posted by:
Kenneth Murchison Oceana Matrix Ltd.
Software Engineer 21 Princeton Place
mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Orchard Park, NY 14127
http://www.oceana.com 716-662-8973 x26

He stated in the posting:
"I have attached my home-grown scandir() which works fine on
Solaris
2.3-2.6. Feel free to use it if you like."

I submitted as an example, not necessarily to use verbatum,
however I take it from his statement that it is public domain. It
would probably be good to ask him, but I haven't contacted him.

I have gotten it to build okay using that code. I don't know
exactly how to exercise it to test if it works. Also I'm not sure
if it might cause a memory leak. There is a malloc in it that I
don't know if it ever get's freed or not.

If you can tell me what I need to do to execute that routine, I
would be happy to test it.
I would also be willing to contact Kenneth about using the code if
you would like me to.
