This might work.  Give it a try.  The second htdig will try to reexamine
the first 1000 domains to check for updates, but then it should add the
remaining 800 to the database without removing any of the original ones.

Failing that, try building two separate databases using two different
config files, and then use htmerge -m to combine them.
