True - c vs c++. What I meant to say is that it is the same gcc/libstdc
compiler and
hence includes/libraries that it uses when installing.

Thanks for explaining this. Could you please offer any suggestions of
what to change
in order to try and compile htDig.

Sorry, no I didn't. I had a colleague recommend htDig when I was looking
around
for a replacement for harvest. The first version of htDig I tried was
3.1.0b4.
Could you please try compiling again but this time using 2.8.1 instead
of 2.7.2.2
Will be interesting to see what results you get.
