[htdig] Exclution of user directories

Is there a way to exclude the search engine from searching through home directories 
(/~user/)?
I've tried using wildcards on "exclude_urls" such as '/~*/, but that didn't work. I 
haven't seen anything in the FAQ/Configuration documentation. Any suggestions?
