db.wordlist.work is created by the -a option passed to htdig.
db.wordlist.work.new is created by the -a option passed to htmerge.
It's rewriting the db.wordlist.work file and it doesn't want to mess
up the old one. (FYI, if you didn't pass the -a to htmerge, you'd see
a db.wordlist.new)
