I'm having a hard time making out exactly what you are asking, but it
seems to me that you're misunderstanding what the maximum_pages attribute
does. As it's name implies, it sets the maximum number of pages, and not
a fixed number. If the number of pages of results for a query is less than
the maximum, htsearch will use the smaller number, and not force it to be
the maximum.
