When I add these options and run configure, I get:
checking whether the C compiler (gcc -O2 -fno-exceptions -fno-rtti )
works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot
create executables.
I assume that this has something to do with gcc-2.8, and the fact that I'm
using gcc version 2.7.2.1, right?
