I am on the latest beta release.
Also, would someone please take some time and let me know how to increase
the scores?
I indexed 3 pages and two of these have the words I am searching in Title,
Description and body. But the score still stays at 7 and I see only one
star. Is this normal?

This all depends on which version you're running. The 3.2 betas do
scoring at search time, not at indexing time, so you don't need to
reindex when you change the factors. However, 3.2.0b1 & b2 have bugs
in the scoring algorithm, which should be fixed in a more recent snapshot.
If you're running 3.1.5, which is the latest stable release, then you
do need to reindex for any changes to scoring factors to take effect,
as they're applied at indexing time.
