There are two ways. In either case, you need to modify your
search_algorithm attribute to add one of these fuzzy match
methods:

prefix allows you to specify the first part of the word, as "escu*"
to match all words beginning with the same prefix. The "*"
character is specified by the prefix_match_character attribute.

substring allows you to specify any portion of a word, and it will
find words that match that portion. The number of matches
                is limited by substring_max_words.

See http://www.htdig.org/attrs.html#search_algorithm for details.
