  Works For Me (TM) At least with GCC.
  By the way, why shouldn't it? GCC doesn't mind 8bit octets(bytes) in
source code and you don't bother with (wide)?character vs. byte
issues either :)

  UTF-8 string is just an array of bytes and there won't be problems
if you treat it as opaque string. At least I suppose so.

  However, there SHOULD be problems when escaping UTF-8 params data as
your code iterates over it using C chars which are bytes really.  But I
don't face them right now. That's weird as almost all my params come
in UTF-8 :)
