If your users' browsers support IFRAME you could use one of those to fix the
table headers and scroll the data. See the demo at
http://www.cs.tut.fi/~jkorpela/html/iframe.html#sim-thead, which I think is
pretty elegant. This of course bypasses the question neatly  :-)
