When speaking of 1.4 we refer to the API, not the implementation version. HttpClient will work with Sun's and any (IBM, BEA, Blackdown etc.) other 1.4 implementation.
Of course. Just tuck that '1.4.0 is broken' knowledge away for the future when someone comes complaining about it not working. :)
