New Page:

= Request for Use Cases =

In order to make the HttpClient more capable, easier to use, or just
better in general, we need to know what you are doing or want to do with it.
Please help us to improve HttpClient by contributing new use cases, or
variations of existing ones.

Your use cases will allow us to verify that the
[wiki:Self:HttpClientApiRedesign new API] we are currently
designing for HttpClient 4.0 is complete, sound, and easy enough to use.
Over time, the uses cases will be discussed and supplemented with solutions
in the form of code or directions. The use cases will therefore become the
foundation of a new and valuable information resource for HttpClient users.

You no longer have to be a programmer or HTTP wisecracker to contribute
to the HttpClient community. Now everyone can help to improve the HttpClient.
'''Don't waste this chance!'''

Thank you.

= What should I do? =

First, you should read the existing UseCases to see whether yours
is already covered. If there is no use case that covers yours, but one
that is quite similar to what you have in mind, please add to the
"Variations" section of that use case.

If there is no use case matching yours, create a new entry in the list
of UseCases. You'll have to think of a WikiName that starts with "UseCases/"
and describes what your use case is about. The new page can be accessed
from the modified list and will be created when you first commit it.
Please use the UseCaseTemplate to create the new page.

Finally, describe your use case in the title and the "Use Case" section
of the new page. Don't worry about the "Discussion" or "Solution" section
right now. You can post the new use case as a community challenge, and
the community will discuss it to come up with a solution.

= I don't know... =

You don't know whether you use case makes sense at all?
Whether it is the same as or a variation of another use case?
Then post it to the
[http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/httpclient/mail-lists.html user mailing
list] and find out.

You don't know how to edit in a Wiki, or you don't feel comfortable with it?
Then post to the
[http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/httpclient/mail-lists.html user mailing list]
and find a ghost writer who will take care of Wiki editing for you.

You don't know a new use case, but would like to contribute anyway? Then
subscribe to the
[http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/httpclient/mail-lists.html user mailing
list],
participate in discussions of use cases, or become a ghost writer for someone
who feels
uncomfortable with Wiki editing. Or simply browse through the Wiki to fix typos
or come
up with solutions to the use cases we already have.
