Patrick,

javax.net.ssl classes are only available as of Java 1.4 and therefore cannot be
used in HttpClient due to Java 1.2 compatibility requirement. The use of Sun
Java specific classes in EasySSLProtocolSocketFactory and EasyX509TrustManager
classes is one of the reason why these classes are not part of the official
HttpClient distribution.

There's a disclaimer in the EasySSLProtocolSocketFactory indicating that this
code may be inappropriate for use without customization
