Joonas,

Our long standing policy is to provide a lenient mode in those cases where HTTP
spec is too vague or ambiguous and leaves room for different interpretations /
misinterpretations. However, we have so far refused to implement workaround for
obvious gross violations of the spec like the one you have reported. Based on
this policy we have turned down numerous requests to change HttpClient to
accommodate for some particular HTTP spec violations.

I personally would be very reluctant to make an exception in this case as well,
especially taking into consideration the fact there is a way to work the problem
around without having to patch the stock version of HttpClient
