(1) Chunk-coded content IS BOUND to be slower than content-length delimited content. Chunking adds overhead and prevents optimized streaming content off the disk, for instance. (2) What makes you think this problem has anything to do with HttpClient in the first place? There is no evidence of what so ever that the performance degradation is due to the client side.
