The Javadoc for CoreConnectionPNames#CONNECTION_TIMEOUT does not state whether it expects seconds or milliseconds. I *think* it's milliseconds after having looked at some example code and the Javadoc for CoreConnectionPNames#SO_TIMEOUT.
