Asankha has implemented a non-blocking HTTP transport based on HttpCore
NIO for Apache Synapse [1] and is very actively involved in testing and
improving HttpCore. Apache Axis2 and Apache Synapse are the early
adopters of HttpComponents within ASF and are of critical importance for
us as the first real-life use cases with a very large and diverse user
base. Moreover, Webservices TLP represents the our largest upstream
dependency within ASF (both Commons HttpClient and HttpComponents
codelines). I think it is more than appropriate for WS folks to have a

making process and project oversight.
Asankha is already an ASF committer and a very active one. As far as I
know granting Jakarta committership to an active ASF committer is merely
a formality, not to mention Asankha well deserves it.
