The error message about invalid characters in your file names also refers to invalid characters in the path, i.e. check the folder names. Check the complete path where your image and project files are stored. See http://wiki.panotools.org/Hugin_FAQ#Special_Characters_in_Paths Also don't use '…' (alt+.) in folder and file names.
