While compiling with "g++ -Wall" a lot of warnings of this type are
reported:

locally defined but not used [-Wunused-local-typedefs]
typedef typename ImageType::value_type PixelType;

In the attached patches I have commented out these typedefs but perhaps
they should be simply deleted.
